Crude averaged US$109 a barrel and the dollar US81.0 cents across 2012. On MBIE's numbers the 2012 margin on 91 was 20.5c a litre. 95 carried a 9.9c premium over regular in 2012.

Tax and diesel

Tax, levies and GST took 88.3c of an average 2012 litre of 91, 42% of the price. The 91 tax line moved in 2012: 59.1c to 60.6c in the week to 3 August; 60.6c to 61.1c in the week to 10 August.
