MBIE's Dubai benchmark averaged US$41 in 2016; one NZ dollar bought US69.7 cents. MBIE's importer margin on 91 averaged 28.2c a litre in 2016. The 95 premium over 91 averaged 14.3c in 2016.
Tax and diesel
Excise, levies, ETS and GST: 91.9c on 91 in 2016, a 52% share. The 67.1c tax line on 91 did not move in 2016. Diesel undercut 91 by 75.2c in 2016, with RUC paid separately. Diesel moved between 81.7c (22 January) and 118.5c (30 December).
